My favorite tradition is exchanging jars of green olives with my sibs and mom. It's become a traditional gift over the years, because when we were young, it was a real treat to have a bowl of olives with Christmas dinner. Funny that olives were a luxury - I'm old!

One of my favorite traditions is my girls' advent calendars. They're playmobil, and we use the same ones every year. It's so much fun to see the same old friends come out slowly over the month, and it never ceases to amaze me that my girls pop out of bed and run down to open them - even though they know what's in there! The magic of childhood, no?

Your prizes are all lovely, but I would faint if I got that big pile of recess in the mail.

For the last 17 years, I've worked with an agency to sing in a wandering Old Fashioned Carolers Quartet. That it was gets me into the season. I love when people smile and make requests for their favorites. Yep, that starts the season for me.
thanks for sharing

K@ren said...

This is so generous! Thank you for the chance.

My favorite holiday tradition is from when I was a kid. My mom made us serve dinner at the homeless shelters to remind us what the season is about - giving and sharing and the warmth of the human spirit. Today my daughter and I don't serve dinner every year, but we do give to the community through a service of some kind be it taking donated items to the local nursing home or donating to a family in need. I try to expose her to everything so she remembers what this is about as well, and fosters a love of human kindness and outreach.

Thanks for a great giveaway! All the best to you and yours this season and always. xox

I would like to be in the fabric draw. Thanks :)

My favorite tradition is when we would fill up a thermos with cocoa, and take cups, and get in the car. Dad would drive first through our development (or neighborhood) and then others, he'd drive slow, so we could all ooh and ahh over the houses and their decorations or lights. We would do this one evening during Christmas week. This was in the mid-late 60s. I did it with my kids also, but they hit the "oh mom, this is lame" stage long before I did...in fact I PERSONALLY still love to do this. :)

Thanks, Susan

We are allowed to open one gift on Christmas Eve- our Christmas pajamas a tradition my mom started 20 years ago. One year she decided that we hated this tradition (4 of us 7 kids were teens) only hear us excitedly talking about it the day before Christmas Eve and she had to rush out and buy them at the last minute. kcarlson1152[at]hotmail.com

Hello, Merry Christmas! Thanks for offering such a great giveaway.
My first favorite tradition is getting to decorate and see all the ornaments of years past. Most are handmade by me and my family. Everyone of them is a memory. Some are so tattered and worn, but something I'll cherish forever, like a tatted christmas ball my Grandma made, she passed a while back but I will always have that to remind me of her.

My 2nd favorite tradition is making silly gifts for my family. Well any gifts really, but the sillier the better. For instance I made a piggy with wings as an ornament for my husband, and for a lecherous old lout of an uncle I made him a giant pair of felted breasts... to rest his weary head on of course.

Great prize options! My favorite holiday tradition occurs on Christmas Eve. My husband, daughter, son, and I would always select one gift to open. We'd enjoy hot chocolate and cookies, and I would always read "Twas the Night Before Christmas." Even after the kids were teenagers, this routine didn't change. Afterward, we'd all climb in the car and drive through town admiring Christmas lights, especially downtown. We live in a small town. Our very charming courthouse square is beautifully decorated every year. Our kids are now grown, and our daughter is married. Our son still lives at home while he's attending college in Little Rock. On Christmas Eve, we'll continue our tradition, though our daughter will be away with her husband and his family. It wouldn't be Christmas without carrying on with our routine, but if my men don't listen to me read the story, I am certain that my parrot and dog will!

The fabric is fantastic!

My favorite Christmas tradition is celebrating our proposal anniversary every year, after the littles are safely tucked away in bed. My guy proposed by tucking the ring box into a box of chocolates, so every year he gives me chocolates and we reminisce by the light of the tree.

My family always plays some sort of game (it varies each year) – charades, Monopoly, Pictionary, Trivia Pursuit, Scrabble. We laugh and laugh at each other (especially during charades and Pictionary). We have such fun. Dmj53(at)hotmail(dot)com

We have many traditions (zoo lights, special Christmas Eve meals, etc) but my favorite one is making a huge batch of sugar cookies and decorating them with all the kids (my daughter and all her cousins) every year. Yum!

I probably don't have a chance of winning the adorable fabric but in case I do you can get in touch with me here. Happy Holidays!

My favorite Christmas tradition is the day after Thanksgiving we decorate the house and put up the tree. Then, a week or so after Christmas, we take the decorations down and we takes the ornaments off the tree, the we re-decorate it for January with blue ribbon and snowflake ornaments.

One of my favorite family Christmas traditions is getting out the old family cookie recipes and dividing the baking assignments between all the girls (you don't want my brother baking ANYTHING) and then having a big cookie swap. We get to have all our favorites with a minimal amount of work!

Beautiful fabric. We go look at holiday lights every night after dinner. We all have our favorites, and sometime we find new neighborhoods that become our new favorite.

Sew cute fabric!

My favorite new Christmas tradition (since I've had my own family) is going for numerous carousel rides downtown. We don't do any shopping, just ride :) And it is special since this carousel is the old horse-sleigh kind and is brought out only for the holidays. We do continue with all the traditions from my family and some from my husband's as well. This one is all our own though.

My favorite is the day spent with family. Presents, brunch, cooking, eating, cleaning, nap, walk, leftovers, and then games. A familiar pattern.

my favorite holiday tradition is getting together with all my family and "partying"... it's the same every year: christmas eve at my parents' house with all my mom's side of the family, christmas morning just the immediate family, christmas brunch with my dad's side of the family, and christmas dinner with my mom's family and uncle's family combined. lots of family... but that's awesome.
happy holidays, and thanks for the opportunity to win! :)
