I am so excited to be participating in my first Bloggers Quilt Festival! To be honest, the BQF is one of the reasons I even started a blog, thanks Amy (from Amy's Creative Side)! I love looking at all of the beautiful and unique quilts that my fellow bloggers have created. There is such inspiration to be seen and interesting stories to be read!
I have decided to enter the quilt I made for Cole, one of the little boys I care for. It was his "welcome into the world!" gift. I originally bought the Riley Blake fabric for my youngest son (I love Riley Blake fabrics!). Unfortunately, while trying to make a few changes to this zigzag quilt tutorial, I messed the whole thing up. I was devastated at first. Then I came up with this...
My big mistake ended up resulting into one of my favorite quilts! Since I messed up all of the cuts, I had to really figure out a way to utilize the fabric I had (which is why I have corner squares in the border and a pieced backing, which I now LOVE!). I think that is one of the reasons why I love quilting so much. If you make a mistake you are usually the only one that knows about it. I have learned not to worry so much about the negative little things and use my creative side more.
In case you are wondering, I ordered more of the Riley Blake All Star fabric and will be finishing that zigzag quilt for my youngest son very soon...hopefully!
Thanks so much for stopping by. Please feel free to comment (comments always put a smile on my face :). And, if you haven't already, go over to Amy's Creative Side to see everyone else's quilts and cheer them on!
Smiles

"Mistakes" are so often inspirations to stretch our creativity - and your result is stunning. LOVE it. Thanks for sharing your quilt and its story!
Really cute! I wish I had seen this before I started one for my son! It would be a great way to showcase the fabrics I got for his quilt.
I really like this quilt and this design. Your quilt is beautiful!
Some mistakes come out even better than the original thought. Love it!
A very happy looking mistake :) Love the fabrics.
Wonderful quilt with the colors and pattern.

This is a beautiful quilt, Beth! I'm sure the little boy will love it for years to come. I used that zigzag pattern for my quilt festival entry.
great quilt!
Hey, you should join the KC Modern Quilt Guild! We'd love to have you! (Our November meeting is this week :) )
I love those fabrics. They are very "boy" without being "baby." Great choice, and a wonderful rescue!!

Very cute quilt, I love Riley Blake fabrics also. One of the ladies at one of our local quilt shops, says there are no mistakes in quilting only opportunities to make something different. Its an adventure, that's what I love about quilting most.
darling quilt and the fabrics are fantastic. love your creation...actually, better than the zigzag to me. cute back, too. thanks for sharing and have a great day
