SEW MAMA SEW NATIONAL GIVEAWAY DAY

I am so excited to be participating in the Sew Mama Sew giveaway day!  It's so much fun to give stuff away!    I didn't have my own blog last time around but I had SO much fun looking at new blogs and finding inspiration from so many places.

Ok, I won't make you read much more.  I know you all want to know what I am giving away so here it is...

136 charm squares from the Moda line Recess by American Jane
and 2 yards of coordinating fabric from the same line
Don't worry if you don't sew, I have something for you as well...

An adorable Buzz Lightyear bag, perfect for little hands.
(a coloring book fits inside perfectly, along with any
other goodies your little guy may love)
OR...
Tutu tote bag for the little princess in your life
The winner can choose which item they want!  All you have to do to enter is make a comment on this post and tell me what your favorite Holiday tradition is (comments that don't include a favorite holiday tradition will not be eligible to win).  I will ship internationally so everyone is welcome.  You have until December 17th to enter my giveway and don't forget to check out the master list to be entered in hundreds more giveaways!  Item of your choice will be mailed no later than December 20th.  Be sure to include your e-mail address if you do not have your e-mail on your profile.  Otherwise I will not be able to contact you if you win and that would be sad.

Additional entry:
~Become a follower of this blog and comment letting me know you did so.  Already a follower, leave me a comment reminding me.  (if you commented that you are a follower and aren't one then I will have to pick another winner)

GOOD LUCK!
~Beth

I love putting up our tree, it's a fabulous fake tree that my mum gave us and the kids love sorting out which branch goes where. I've collected loads of different individual old fashioned decorations for it over the years. I also love the extremely tasty carrot cake my mum makes every year... oh I think I'm finally getting into the Christmas spirit this year now :)

AW! The prizes! They are so cute they kill! Okay favorite holiday traditions... getting the tree right after Thanksgiving, decorating it, hot cocoa, driving around and looking at Christmas lights and of course, my family's tradition (we're Cuban) Lechon (pork) on Christmas Eve!

I am IN LOVE with those fabrics. I have only been quilting for about a year now and I'll be the first to admit my fabric stash needs help! The only thing we could call a tradition is the fact that we collect "ornaments" for our Christmas tree all year long when we go on trips. This has lead to "real" ornaments, key chains, and just anything that could be hung. Its going to be interesting. We plan to keep this up with future children too!

Lisa said...

Beth- I love reading your blog and looking at all the cute things you sew. We have lots of Holiday traditions, but I really enjoy Jace reading The elf on a shelf book and bringing Fred to life during the season. And on Christmas morning, our kids know they have to stay upstairs until everyone is awake and then we video them coming down the stairs so we can capture their face when they see what Santa has brought them.

The heavens opened when I clicked on you blog! I love the recess line!! Those are my happy colors. I think I just plain love the era they represent.

Favorite part of Christmas: Christmas Eve. We have a simple dinner, a sock exchange with family members (the kids favorite), then my husband reads from Luke and the rest of the family acts out the Christmas story. This can be very touching or absolutely hilarious depending on who plays which part. After that it's See's nuts and chews for everyone! (My mom's favorite part).

We started a new tradition when we moved away from family. That was the year that my older daughter was 2 and her Christmas list was "a hamburger and a trick-or-treat". So Christmas dinner is now "Everybody's Favorites". Each person gets to pick a couple foods they love and I put together something from those that would make a rational meal: ie prime rib, crab legs, artichokes, sorbet w/ pomegranates.

Wonderful giveaway! Our very large family all get together for Christmas and do a White Elephant exchange - instead of regular gifts they are things you think several people would like, we draw numbers, the first person picks a gift and opens it, then the second person can either take the gift or pick a new one. We have over 30 people and it really becomes a fun time as someone "steals" the gift.

VeeBee said...

Tradition, schmadition. How about a tradition of doing something totally new and bizarre and creative every year? Like last year we drove (a long way) to a cool place and had Christmas morning in a hotel with a tiny tree on the nightstand. And then there was the year when I rebelled against store-bought stockings and decided I'd learn to knit socks by making Christmas stockings. So they were all odd shaped and didn't have the same capacity, so there was a small amount of squabbling (which continues to this day, as the odd-ball stockings have carried on for the past 5 years). Maybe that was TMI. Sorry.

I have to say, we don't really have many Christmas traditions. This is our first year as a married couple and it's definitely time to start some. One thing we both do (and did before we met each other) was to buy a new decoration for the tree each year, a special one. Now we buy three each year (me, husband and stepdaughter) and they always mean something(we don't have one of those colour coordinated trees-it's a hodge podge!!) for example the little angels we bought the day we got engaged.

I'd love to win the fabric.

Bea said...

We don't really celebrate any holidays ourselves, but when I know its a big holiday for any religion I usually decide to treat the dogs to an extra special dinner. They're rather fond of hanukkah because that's 8 days of treats for them. I hope that counts as a tradition.

Cheers,
Bea

Put me in for the Moda fabric, I just love Moda.

My favorite new tradition is making sugar cookie cutouts with my 4 year old daughter. It's our second year in a row making and decorating them, and I've decided to make it a tradtition by buying a new cookie cutter for her every year. They're a pain in the butt to make but so worth it!

Thanks for the lovley giveaway. As for traditions it is gathering around making and eating food. Creation is really what it's all about. It's when I've learned the most about my family and friends. Thanks again.

I just got married, so my husband and I are starting all of our own family traditions for the first time this year. I think my favorite (so far, at least) is seeing what is inside the Advent calendar every day (I never got to do one of those when I was a little kid!).

My favorite Christmas tradition is eating my Mom's homemade stollen for breakfast on Christmas day. I did't realize hoe much the small of candied citrus peel reminded me of Christmas until I candied some myself this year for her to use.

Thank you for such a wonderful giveaway! racergirl1313[at]hotmail[dot]com

Our family Christmas tradition is to have a very simple meal on Christmas day. It is a tradition that is loathed by our extended family but envied by parents everywhere. Who wants to miss all the Christmas fun by being stuck in the kitchen? Not me!

I would pick the fabric squares. Our favorite holiday tradition is to read the night before Christmas. My children are all older but they still want to do that.

Every Christmas eve, for the past few years, our whole family, two adults and 4 kids huddle up on two couches and watch "The Polar Express". It is a new tradition, but I suppose that is how traditions start, right?!
I love the fabric you are giving away! Thanks for the chance to win.

A favorite tradition would be getting my kiddies together with their cousins to decorate gingerbread houses (good thing I have central vac !). We use graham crackers so it's kinda cheating but everyone just wants to get right to the decorating part anyway and it saves an awful lot of time. It's fun to see how everyone's designs have progressed as they've gotten older . Thanks for such an awesome giveaway !

Fantastic Giveaway!!
My favorite tradition is christmas eve dinner. When we were kids my family was too busy to do anything fancy christmas eve when a big dinner was planned christmas day so my parents order a lunch meat platter and pick up some cooked shrimp. We all gather around making our own sandwiches and eating shrimp until we turn a pinkish color. It is great because of how casual it is and how everyone is just gathered around.

I love the fabric! Thank you for sharing. One of my favorite traditions is my wife making German pancakes on Christmas morning. She's been making them since she was a little girl, and we hardly ever have them at any other time of year, so it always feels extra special.
